Councilman Gary Lusk
History and Evaluation of the Candidate
Gary Lusk serves as one of two appointed members of council seeking their first electoral victory this November, the other being Councilwoman Liz Sierawski. Mr. Lusk was selected by council to replace outgoing Councilman Douglas Skrzyniarz, narrowly edging out Candidate Eric Castiglia. A professional photographer and business promotion expert, Mr. Lusk is self-employed.
Having first run unsuccessfully for council in 2011, he subsequently failed in a run for County Commissioner in 2012. Mr. Lusk dissolved his campaign organization in 2013 and focused on his photography and promotional businesses, but remained interested and involved in city politics. When Councilman Joseph Romano departed office early in 2017, Mr. Lusk threw his hat in the ring for the chance to replace him by appointment. He lost out to Ms. Sierawski in that attempt, but was then appointed only weeks later to replace Skrzyniarz.
Lusk has demonstrated a solid understanding of the issues the city faces and now has eight months of experience on council under his belt. He is seeking to win election on November 7 and states that his primary goal in office is to innovate new ways of thinking.
